Honestly shocked this isn’t twice the price. I went into this review/testing with no clue who Planet Audio was so I didn’t expect to be impressed–esp at the low asking price. Well, imagine my surprise at the feature packed quality unit that arrived. Obviously this isn’t a thousand dollar deck so please don’t expect that. What it delivers is pretty impressive at under three hundred.

Pros:
Radio reception was equal or slightly better than my stock Dodge radio.
CD/DVD player worked great–with no issues playing the 30 different discs I tried.
Screen was impressive along with pretty good touch screen functionality.
DVD player worked well (once the car is not running).
USB/Input Jack/SD Card reader all worked well. You are limited to supported formats but that is to be expected.
Overall audio was good–very good at this price point.

Cons:
Audio quality is good but if that is the only thing you care about, you can get better audio quality in a deck with less features but the same price. Honestly with most speakers you won’t be disappointed but it is not best in class.
DVD player doesn’t work while the car is running. While this makes sense (so the driver isn’t watching a movie), it also reduces the usefulness as the passengers can’t watch anything either. Once you have the car stopped, my guess is that you won’t be hanging out in there straining your neck to watch DVDs on a 7 inch screen. So it is more of a–"Hey isn’t this cool" feature than a must have.
Only four way audio, requiring either self powered sub or a separate amp. Again, not shocking given the price point.

Make sure you realize you will need additional items before this can be installed in your car. Crutchfield is a great place for those add-ons….
