I’m giving this five stars although I would rather have been able to give it 4.5 stars..
I got this deck in order to install a backup camera on my truck, which was impossible to see to the rear with mirrors. I chose it for the features it offered, number of positive reviews, and mainly the price which was acceptable. I also was interested in all of the other features, including Bluetooth audio/phone connect, audio/visual, USB and aux connects and GPS navigation (among others). I am well satisfied with the performance of the deck overall although I have yet to truly test the performance of the Navigation function.
The only real bummer I had with this deck was the remote did not work. I don’t use remotes in my vehicles so this was not a big deal to me.
Here’s some info on installing this deck (2004 Ford Ranger). I used the Metra Double DIN installation kit plus the Metra audio/electrical harness adapter. At first I didn’t think the Metra brackets would work until I realized the PNV9680 has like, two sets of metal brackets on the outside of the unit that must be removed in order to use the Metra bracket. Once I figured that out it was good to go. Keep in mind you are going to need to cut off the standard electric harness that is supplied (NOT the end that goes into the deck – the other end) and then color-match and solder each of the wires to the Metra wire harness. There are like 12 or something wires and it is tedious. But not too complicated. Now a word about the infamous "reverse wire." This is a purple wire that comes out of the deck harness and it is used to signal the deck to switch to the rear camera. It needs a 12VDC signal to do this….
