This unit is a compact (DIN format) audio/video system for mobile use. It really brings to light how high-value audio electronics have become as it seems both of decent build-quality and over-achieving performance.
To maximize the performance capability of this unit one either needs installation experience or a qualified installer. With a knowledgeable installer the proper adapter/interface connectors can be used whereby you can adjust volume and functions such as track advance and mode from your steering wheel controls. There is a slim phone sized remote for accessing the extended capabilities of the unit. Pre-amp level RCA outputs are available for those who only wish to use this as a head unit with an existing set-up.
The 7” display is about as impressive as any one of that size can be when using as DVD player. It is of the touchscreen type and can be used as the main control for the unit plus you still get that knob for volume which us old guys prefer.
Sources extend beyond the disc (CD/DVD) & radio tuner on board with USB, SD Card, and Bluetooth. All work as expected as homemade DVDs both work well, music files on both USB and SD play in MP3 format (will not be able to say if FLAC worked as I did not have any on either USB or SD card). The tuner was as good as the factory unit pulling in FM stations in my area. The Bluetooth was easy to connect to a Samsung S3 with excellent fidelity.
In my case this unit worked well with professional installation. It kind of amazed me as to how much it does at the extremely modest price. While my vehicle didn’t use the internal amplifiers my installer said they were probably about a third of the advertised power as it is commonly inflated…so, I really can’t comment on the sound as to the internal amplifiers….
