Let me preface this review by stating I was not compensated or provided a free product in exchange for this review. 100% honest analysis. I truly feel that incentivized reviews pollute Amazon, and inaccurately sway an item’s perceived value for unsuspecting customers. As such, even though I bought this on Ebay for faster shipping, I’m leaving a real review here because I want to show people that actual paying customers are also satisfied by the P8UAW.
I bought this on a whim after going through 3 different underseat subwoofers with little success. I drive a 2006 RAV4 with a third row backseat therefore no hidden cargo area under the floor). I make frequent use of ALL of my trunk space so a traditional subwoofer was out of the question, at which many car audio "purists" will just throw up their hands and consider no other options. I was set on fitting an underseat subwoofer in my car somewhere, however, due to the ventilation system the front seats were a bust, and the rear seats wouldn’t work either from a simple lack of space.
Thus, I set out to find a powered subwoofer that would fit in the space between the rear seats, which is only about 9 inches wide with trim.
Size and power:
From the few subwoofers small enough, I was disappointed by the RMS. Kenwood’s was only 75W. I realize that the 400 W RMS of the P8UAW is probably an overstatement, but it sure doesn’t sound like it! This thing hits hard enough to shake my whole car and that’s good enough for me. Won’t scare off other drivers but that was never my intent.
Build:
Rock solid construction. This thing is a tank, fairly heavy, nice and boxy for the best use of space(instead of a trapezoidal profile that could needlessly increase its footprint for minimal sound improvement)….
